USM Vision Weld Seam Inspection System

USM Vision is a welding inspection solution used in new pipeline manufacturing processes. It meets the requirements of ultrasonic testing replacing X-ray testing according to international norms and standards:

  • Optimize the configuration of testing technicians
  • Improving production efficiency means streamlining production/structure
  • Reduce the limitations of current weld seam radiographic testing
  • Simplify the ultrasonic weld detection process

Simplify and improve

On site inspection has been achieved during the production process, without the need to move components to specific areas. The inspection time is flexible to accommodate the availability of labor.

Joint assignment:

Ultrasonic USM Vision detection can immediately perform other tasks such as welding and repair after completing one task, unlike imaging detection which requires immediate shielding of the detection area.

Optimize personnel allocation

USM Vision introduces a special task sharing feature into weld seam inspection. Non professional ultrasonic testing personnel can create a workflow for ultrasonic testing and perform weld seam testing. Testing personnel only need to follow the instructions indicated in the menu. Advanced ultrasound technicians only need to evaluate the original testing plan and results.

Parallel tasks

Enable advanced ultrasound technicians to better utilize their time. Technicians can use the saved data collection time to validate testing plans, future tasks, and analyze testing data.

Advanced imaging technology

Real time volume corrected image

Safe operation

Non professional ultrasonic testing personnel can create a workflow for ultrasonic testing and perform weld seam testing. Testing personnel only need to follow the instructions indicated in the menu.

The data generated by USM Vision can be accessed, reviewed, shared, and archived on the Rhythm software platform

Analyzing digital radiographic images and data in the same software

Create a testing plan

Create and complete a testing plan without the need for professional ultrasonic testing personnel. Simply describe the testing task, input basic information such as location distribution, number of welds, pipe diameter, thickness, material, welding process, procedure, and method used. The software will calculate and automatically complete all the UT setting information required for phased array weld detection. These settings include:

  • Select the correct probe and module from the database
  • Probe positioning
  • Determine the UT parameters required for testing based on the standards and specifications you have selected

Verification and testing plan

Subsequently, these settings information need to be verified by advanced ultrasound technicians. Each weld seam is divided into multiple TOFD and phased array inspection areas, and senior technicians can verify the accuracy of ultrasonic coverage in each area through the sound beam simulation function. You can also adjust the probe position by selecting other probes in the database. After all detection areas have been validated, the detection scheme can be exported to the scanning instrument.

calibration

As long as the testing plan is confirmed by senior technical personnel, the testing task does not need to be completed by senior technical personnel. Ordinary first and second level personnel can complete it. The technician only needs to select a detection scheme, and then follow the guide step by step to complete probe and wedge verification, calibration (PCS and TOFD sensitivity, verification, chip unit and wedge inspection, recording phased array DAC/TCG curves), scanning settings, and calibration.

Obtain detection data

You can easily obtain data from each TOFD or phased array scan by following the inspection plan guide. After completing each scan, the detection wizard will provide detailed information for the next scan, and based on this information, the scan can be successfully completed. At any time, you can export the scanned detection data for analysis and reporting.

Analyze and test data

All detection data is transmitted to the analysis workstation through the Rhythm software platform compatible with DICONDE. Here, advanced ultrasonic testing personnel can use advanced analysis tools such as straight through waves, straightened side through waves, and 6dB length measurement methods. In addition, the analysis software also includes various measurement tools.

report form

Based on the analysis results, a detection report can be quickly obtained and printed in real-time for welding personnel to repair the weld seam in real time. Welding seam detection system,,

Archive detection data

The detection data is stored using the industry standard communication protocol DICONDE. This is a universal data format (supported by ASTM) that can provide * data. Rhythm can label the storage of raw data. Information can be easily and quickly searched through the DICONDE tagging system, which can receive data from multiple remote Rhythm workstations connected to the network and store it using different compression techniques without affecting data quality, saving a lot of space.

Share detection data

All detection data, including improved images and raw data, can be shared with other interested units. It can be sent to other RhythmReview workstations for third-party authentication. Rhythm Enterprise Web provides the best transmission of non-destructive testing images and reports to all non-destructive testing users based on network functionality, without considering the connection bandwidth of a standard personal computer web browser, thereby significantly enhancing data sharing. Rhythm Web runs on top of the client's network, so the client has complete control over information security.
